How to offer Tahajjud nafl prayer
Whether it is Tahajjud prayer or any other prayer, it is not necessary to make the intention with the tongue. It is enough to have the intention in the heart that I am praying Tahajjud. If I have to make the intention with the words, then I should make the intention for Tahajjud like this:
نَوَیتُ أَن أُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْ صَلَاةِ التَّهَجُّدِ سُنَّةَ النَّبِیِّ ﷺ،
Or he should make the intention in his tongue like this: “I am praying two rak’ahs of Tahajjud prayer” Allahu Akbar. Also, if he prays at night with the intention of only performing voluntary prayers, then Tahajjud prayer will still be considered.
2: The time for Tahajjud begins after the Isha prayer and lasts until just before dawn. It is better to pray Tahajjud after midnight. For the rest, praying Tahajjud at any time after the Isha prayer and before dawn will be considered Tahajjud. Also, sleeping is not a condition for Tahajjud, however, it is better to pray it in the last hours of the night.

Mufti Azam of Pakistan, Mufti Muhammad Shafi (may Allah have mercy on him) writes in “Ma’arif al-Quran”:
“The word Tahajjud is derived from “Hajjud”, and this word is used for two opposite meanings, it can mean sleeping and waking up… The prayer of that night is called Tahajjud prayer in the Sharia terminology, and generally it is understood that the prayer offered after waking up after sleeping for some time is Tahajjud prayer, but in the Tafsir al-Mazhari it is stated that the meaning of this verse (ومن الليل فتحجدبه) is to leave sleep for prayer in some part of the night, and this meaning is true for waking up after sleeping for some time, and it is also true for praying after delaying sleep for prayer at the beginning, therefore the condition of sleeping first for Tahajjud prayer is not stated in the Quran, then some narrations also state the same general meaning of Tahajjud from Hadith.
The meaning has been argued. The definition of Tahajjud prayer that Imam Ibn Kathir (may Allah be pleased with him) has quoted from Hazrat Hasan Basri (may Allah be pleased with him) is also evidence of this generality. His words are as follows:
“Hasan Basri says that the Tahajjud prayer is valid for all prayers and should be performed after Isha, however, due to the interaction, it should be performed after some sleep.”
The result of this is that the original meaning of the Tahajjud prayer does not require it to be performed after sleep, and this condition is not present in the words of the Quran either, but the general interaction of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions was that they used to perform the prayer after waking up at the end of the night, so this would be the best form of it.”
How to offer Ishraq nafl prayer
The minimum number of rak’ahs for the Ishraq prayer is two. It is narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever prays the Fajr prayer in congregation, then sits and remembers Allah until the sun rises, then prays two rak’ahs (of Ishraq), he will receive the reward of Hajj and Umrah.” Another narration states: “He will be as pure as if his mother had given birth to him today.
“It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever observes the Ishraq prayer, his sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea.”
“عن أنس قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من صلى الغداة في جماعة ثم قعد يذكر الله حتى تطلع الشمس، ثم صلى ركعتين كانت له كأجر حجة وعمرة، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: تامة تامة تامة.”
“Anas said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation, then sits remembering Allah until the sun rises, and then prays two rak’ahs, will have a reward like that of Hajj and Umrah.” He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Complete, complete, complete.”
“عن أبي هريرة، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من حافظ على شفعة الضحى غفر له ذنوبه وإن كانت مثل زبد البحر.”
(أبواب الوتر، باب ما جاء في صلاة الضحى،
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Whoever maintains the first two prayers of Duha, his sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea.”
(Chapters on Witr, Chapter on What Has Been Said About the Duha Prayer,
“من قام إذا استعلت الشمس، فتوضأ فأحسن وضوءه، ثم قام فصلى ركعتين غفر له خطاياه أو قال كان كما ولدته أمه.”
(كتاب الصلاة، الباب السابع في صلاة النوافل، الفصل الثاني: في السنن والنوافل الراتبة، ج:٧، ص:٨١٠،
“Whoever stands when the sun rises, performs ablution and does it well, then stands and prays two rak’ahs, his sins will be forgiven, or he will be as good as when his mother bore him.”
(Book of Prayer, Chapter Seven: On Voluntary Prayers, Section Two: On Sunnah and Regular Voluntary Prayers, Vol. 7, p. 810)
“عن أنس قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: من صلى الغداة في جماعة ثم قعد يذكر الله حتى تطلع الشمس، ثم صلى ركعتين…”
On the authority of Anas, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation, then sits remembering God until the sun rises, then prays two rak’ahs..
The person who is entitled to the above-mentioned special virtue and full reward of the Ishraq prayer is the one who prays the Fajr prayer in congregation or, due to an excuse, at home and remains engaged in remembrance and adhkar there, and is not engaged in any worldly work in between, until the time for Ishraq arrives, then he should pray Ishraq.
Also, to remain sitting in the same place after the Fajr prayer to attain the virtue of the Ishraq prayer means that he remains engaged in remembrance and good deeds in the same place, whether standing, sitting or lying down, although it is better to remain sitting and doing dhikr, unless he gets up from there for some other religious work, such as for circumambulating the House of Allah, or for praying a funeral, or for attending a lesson on the Quran and Hadith, etc.
It should be noted that the Ishraq prayer has one of those virtues that are specifically mentioned, and the other is those virtues that are generally mentioned;
Therefore, if a person is busy with some worldly work after Fajr, he will also receive the virtue of the Ishraq prayer, although there is no promise of specific virtue.
How to offer Chasht nafl prayer
The time for the afternoon prayer begins when the sun has risen. When half of the total time has passed between sunrise and the beginning of the noon prayer, this is the best time for the afternoon prayer. The minimum number of rak’ahs of the afternoon prayer is four and the maximum is twelve.
It was narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray four rak’ahs of the afternoon prayer and he would pray as many as Allah Almighty wanted.
Muslim, Al-Sahih, Kitab Salat Al-Wajanahi Wa Qasrah, Bab Istihbab Salat Al-Dhuhi, 1:497, No. 719
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever prays twelve rak’ahs of Fajr, Allah will build for him a golden palace in Paradise.”
Tirmidhi, Al-Jami’ Al-Sahih, Abwaab Al-Witr, Bab Ma Ja’a Fi Salat Al-Dhuhi, 1:485, No. 473.
How to offer Awabin nafl prayer
The optional prayers that are usually performed after the obligatory and sunnah prayers of Maghrib are called “Salat al-Awabin”, the minimum number of which is six and the maximum is twenty. This is a recommended prayer.
According to the Mufti, these six rak’ahs are in addition to the two rak’ahs of Sunnah al-Mu’akkadah after Maghrib. However, some jurists say that this virtue can also be achieved by combining the Sunnah al-Mu’akkadah with six rak’ahs.
The method of performing the Awabin prayer is the same as that of the general optional prayers, and it is better to perform the six rak’ahs of Awabin in two rak’ahs.
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever performs six rak’ahs (the Awabin prayer) after Maghrib prayer and does not utter any wrong words between them, these six rak’ahs will be equivalent to twelve years of worship for him in reward.
However, in the authentic hadiths, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has called the afternoon prayer the prayer of the camels, or rather, in one hadith, he has called the prayer of those who pray the afternoon prayer after the sun has become hot, “Salat al-Awabin.” It is said: “Salat al-Awabin hai tirmidh al-fasal.” (Sahih Muslim) That is, the prayer of those who turn to Allah is when the feet of the camel’s calf start to burn due to the heat of the sun.
