Allah Almighty has made the way of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) a model for all mankind until the Day of Judgment, as He says in the Holy Quran:
’’ لَقَدْ کَانَ لَکُمْ فِیْ رَسُوْلِ اللہِ أُسْوَۃٌ حَسَنَۃٌ لِّمَنْ کَانَ یَرْجُوْا اللہَ وَالْیَوْمَ الْآخِرَ‘‘(الاحزاب: ۲۱).
“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the best example for all of you.”
Some basic conditions of Islamic dress
In the light of the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), scholars have written some of the following conditions of dress:
1: It is obligatory for men to wear such clothes that cover the body from the navel to the knees, and it is Sunnah to wear such clothes that cover the entire body except for the hands, feet, and face. It is obligatory for women to wear such clothes that cover their entire body except for the hands, feet, and face.
Note: Here, the description is of clothing, not of veiling, meaning that a woman must cover her face in front of a non-mahram.
2: The dress should not be against the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him), for example: silk clothes and pure red or yellow clothes for men.
3: The dress should not be tight or revealing, which exposes body parts.
4: The dress of men should not resemble that of women, and the dress of women should not resemble that of men.
5: Men’s clothing should not be too colorful and women’s clothing should not be too fragrant.
6: Men’s clothing should be above the ankles while women’s clothing should be below the ankles.
7: It should not resemble the religious clothing of the infidels and polytheists.

The favorite clothing of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is “white clothing”.
The Muslim community is unanimous that the Prophet (peace be upon him) loved white clothing. This is mentioned in many hadiths. For the sake of brevity, I will mention only two of them:
It was narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Choose white clothing, for it is the best of your clothes, and shroud your dead in white clothing.” (Tirmidhi, Al-Jana’iz: 994. Abu Dawud, Al-Libas: 4061, Ibn Majah, Bab Maja’ fi Al-Jana’iz, Musnad Ahmad: 1/247)
It was narrated from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Wear white clothing, for it is pure, clean and good, and shroud your dead in it.” (Al-Nisa’i, Al-Amr Bilbus Al-Bayd Min Al-Thiyab, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
More pure because they get dirty very quickly, that is why they are washed more often, unlike colored clothes, because they have more dirt due to being washed late. Good because a sound nature inclines towards them. (Ash’at Al-Lama’at, Kitab Al-Libas)
Sheikh Faqih Abu Al-Layth Samarqandi (d. 373 AH) in his book “Bustan Al-Arifeen” and Allamah Shami (r.a.) author of the famous and well-known book of Hanafi jurisprudence “Rad Al-Muhtar” has written that the most preferred color among colors is white .
The sayings and actions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) regarding colorful clothing
The Prophet (peace be upon him) wore mostly white clothes, although he also wore clothes of other colors. Colored clothes were usually in the form of a chador or abaya or a jabba, because his shirt and apron were usually white. It is narrated from Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw him wearing pure yellow clothes and said: “This is the clothes of the disbelievers, do not wear it.” (Muslim: 2077).
Hazrat Abu Rimtha Rifaa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dressed in two green garments.” (Abu Dawud: 4065; Tirmidhi: 2813)
Hazrat Al-Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was of medium height. Once I saw him (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dressed in a red-striped cloak. I have never seen a more beautiful sight than that.” (Bukhari, vol. 10, p. 258 and Muslim: 2337)
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) loved the red-striped Yemeni cloak.” The Shirt of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “The Prophet (peace be upon him) liked the shirt the most among the clothes.” (Tirmidhi: 1762, Abu Dawud: 4025)
Some of the characteristics of the shirt of the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned in the authentic hadiths are as follows: “The color of the shirt of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was usually white.” (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, An-Nasa’i, Musnad Ahmad, etc.)
“The shirt of the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to reach about half the shin.” (Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah)
“The sleeves of the shirt of the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to reach the ankles.” (Abu Dawud, vol. 2, p. 203. Tirmidhi)
Sometimes to the tips of the fingers. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to wear loose-fitting shirts and sleeves.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) wore a turban.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) wore a turban that was usually white, sometimes black, and sometimes green. His turban was usually 6/7 cubits long.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that: “When the Prophet (peace be upon him) wore a turban, he would place it between his two shoulders, meaning that the ‘shamla’ of the turban would hang between his two shoulders. (Mishkat, p. 374)
It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that: “On the day of the conquest of Mecca, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered Mecca wearing a black turban.” In his homeland, the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to wear a cap that was attached to his head, but during his travels, his cap was lifted.
Allama Ibn al-Qayyim writes in his excellent book “Zad al-Ma’ad fi Huda Khair al-Ibad” that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to wear a turban and a cap under it. He (peace be upon him) used to wear a cap without a turban and he (peace be upon him) used to wear a turban without a cap. The fatwa of all the sheikhs of Saudi Arabia is that the cap is the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the way of all the hadith scholars, commentators, jurists, scholars and righteous people. Also, wearing a cap is a person’s adornment and in the light of the Holy Quran (Surah al-A’raf: 31), adornment is required in prayer, so we should pray wearing a cap. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) saw his slave Nafi’ praying naked and became very angry and said, “Allah is more deserving that we should present ourselves before Him with adornment.” Imam Abu Hanifa (RA) has declared praying naked as makruh.
The contemporary scholar of hadith, Sheikh Nasir al-Din al-Albani (RA) has also written on page 164 of his book “Tammaa’ al-Manna” that my opinion on the issue under discussion is that praying naked is makruh.
The Prophet’s (PBUH) Robe
It is narrated from Hazrat Asma’ bint Abi Bakr (RA) that she took out a blessed Kisrawani robe with a silk collar and two silk hems, and said, “This is the robe of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) which was with Umm al-Mu’minin Hazrat Aisha (RA). When she passed away, I took it. The Prophet (PBUH) used to wear it. Now we wash it for diseases and get cured from it. (Mishkat, p. 374)
You (PBUH) also used Roman and Syrian woolen robes. (Bukhari and Muslim).
The Izar of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (i.e., the apron, pajamas, etc.)
The Izar is the garment worn on the lower part of the body. The Prophet (peace be upon him) usually used the apron, and sometimes he also used pajamas. The apron of the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to extend from above the navel to mid-calf. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) also used aprons and, with the permission of the Prophet (peace be upon him), also wore pajamas.
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The dress of a Muslim should extend to mid-calf. It is permissible to extend between mid-calf and ankles. The part of the garment that is below the ankles is in the Fire of Hell. (Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari, vol. 10, p. 217)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The part of the garment that is below the ankles is in the Fire of Hell.” (Bukhari, vol. 10, p. 218)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Hanging is found in the apron, shirt and turban, and whoever hangs any of these garments below the ankles out of arrogance, Allah will He will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Judgment.’’ (Abu Dawud: 4094. An-Nasa’i, vol. 8, p. 208)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The ruling that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave regarding pajamas is the same ruling regarding shirts.” (Abu Dawud)
In the light of the above and other hadiths, scholars have written the above forms of this issue as follows: Clothing up to half the shin: Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Clothing up to the ankles: permission, Clothing below the ankles without arrogance: disliked, Clothing below the ankles due to arrogance: forbidden.
Women’s clothing should be below the ankles. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “Whoever drags his garment out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection.”
Hazrat Umm Salamah (RA) asked what women should do with their skirts. He (PBUH) said: “They should let them hang down a cubit (from the middle of the shin).”
Hazrat Umm Salamah (RA) asked again what if their feet were still exposed. He (PBUH) said: “They should let them hang down a cubit (from the middle of the shin) but not more than that.” (Abu Dawud: 4119; Tirmidhi: 1736).
Moderation in the Dress of the Prophet (peace be upon him)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) wore expensive, luxurious and expensive clothes, but he did not make a habit of them. He would wear all kinds of clothes without any hesitation. Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever wears the clothes of fame in this world, Allah will dress him in the clothes of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection.” (Abu Dawud, Chapter on the Clothing of the People)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Umm al-Mu’minin Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) brought out a patched cloak and a thick apron in front of us, then she said: The soul of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was taken in both of them.” (Bukhari, vol. 2, p. 865)
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: “O Aisha! If you want to meet me, then suffice you from this world as a blanket for a traveler, and protect yourself from the gatherings of the nobles, and do not consider any garment old, even if you patch it.” (Tirmidhi: 1780)
This is the teaching of utmost contentment, that there is no shame in wearing patched clothes. Hazrat Amr bin Shuaib narrated from his father and his grandfather that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah loves that the effects of His blessings be visible on His servant.” (Tirmidhi: 2820)
That is, if wealth has been given by Allah, then one should wear good clothes. Hazrat Mu’adh bin Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever, out of fear of Allah, refrains from wasting his clothes, even though he is capable of it, Allah will call him before all mankind on the Day of Resurrection and will clothe him with whatever He wills from the ornaments of Paradise.” ‘’ Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “When the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would put on a shirt, he would start from the right side.” (Tirmidhi, vol. 1, p. 302) In such a way that he would first put his right hand in the right sleeve, then his left hand in the left sleeve.
Dua for Wearing New Clothes
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wore a new garment, he would call it a turban, a shirt, or a shawl, and then recite this dua:
’اَللّٰھُمَّ لَکَ الْحَمْدُ اَنْتَ کَسَوْتَنِیْہِ اَسْئَلُکَ مِنْ خَیْرِہٖ وَخَیْرِ مَا صُنِعَ لَہٗ وَاَعُوْذُ بِکَ مِنْ شَرِّہٖ وَشَرِّ مَا صُنِعَ لَہٗ۔‘‘
O Allah! I thank You that You have made me wear this, I seek the good of this garment and the good of the one for whom it was made, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of it and the one for whom it was made.’’
How to wear pajamas
It is among the teachings of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that one should wear pajamas/shalwar while sitting. In some weak hadiths, there is a strong warning against wearing pajamas etc. while standing, for example: Whoever wears a turban while sitting or wears saraweel (pajamas or shalwar) while standing, then Allaah will afflict him with a calamity for which there is no cure. This hadith has been mentioned by Sheikh Shah Abdul Haq Muhaddith Dehlawi v in his book “Kashf al-Tabaas fi Istahbab al-Libaas”. Our scholars always follow caution, so the precaution is that we should wear our pajamas etc. while sitting, although it is also permissible to wear them while standing.
Hair Cover
Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “When the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) left his house one morning, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had a black hair cover on his body.” (Shamail Tirmidhi).
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said about silk clothing
Wearing silk clothing is forbidden for men, however, clothes with a 2, 3 or 4 finger length of silk are permissible for men. Also, using silk clothing to treat itching and scabies is permissible for men. Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever wears silk clothing in this world will be deprived of silk clothing in the Hereafter.”(Bukhari, Muslim)
Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Only that man can wear silk clothing in this world who has no share in the Hereafter.”(Bukhari, Muslim)
Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Silk clothing and gold ornaments are forbidden for the men of my Ummah. (Tirmidhi: 1720)
Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade wearing silk, except to the extent of one or two or three or four fingers.” (Bukhari, Al-Libas: 5829, Muslim, Al-Libas wal-Zaina: 2069)
Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted Hazrat Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) to wear silk clothes as a cure for scabies.”(Bukhari, Muslim).
Resembling the disbelievers and polytheists in dress
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) generally forbade resembling the disbelievers and polytheists (i.e. in dress and other things), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said in the books of Hadith: “Whoever He who imitates them will be one of them.’’ (Abu Dawud: 4031)
Imitating them in dress is specifically forbidden. It was narrated from Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) that: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw those wearing pure yellow clothes and said: ‘this is the dress of the disbelievers, do not wear it.’’ (Muslim: 2077) The second Caliph, Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him), sent a message to the Muslims of Azerbaijan to avoid luxury and the dress of the polytheists.’’ (Muslim: 2609).
Imitating men and women in dress
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “May Allah curse those men who imitate women (in dress or speech, etc.), and may Allah curse those women who imitate men (in dress or speech, etc.). ‘’ (Bukhari).
Paint and comparison of the vibration complaint has been described that the realization is a real justification, the man can wear any dress with a few terms according to his regular habits, and these conditions also do not wear the infrastructure. Paint is not really invented by Muslims, but now this dress has become common, so Muslims and non-Muslims use it, so it is legitimate using the use of the following conditions, it is permissible to use the pair of complications, as a pair of paints,
It is obligatory for a few means: 1: … Vibsome usually consists of colors or white colors, while paint is usually colored. In the light of Hadith, the Ummah agreed to the Ummah that God was liked to be white as a garbage of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). 2: … The Qur’aan of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said very much. The first of the Qaima, who is in the Hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), there are more than the usual days, the current time. 3: Although this time the pain of the paint of the paint is in the Muslim Volmamulum, but the whole world recognizes that the beginning of paint is not the religion of Muslim culture, while the basis of the Paradise is based on the prophet of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), as the phase of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “As a pillar, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to use the limebar.” Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used Piya or not?
Some researchers have contracted about it, but all researchers agree that the victims of the victorious agreement bought the Pirama, and the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to wear a pair of permission. 4: … In any time, the scholars of the scholars in any corner of the world did not make their clothes paint.
The explanation of the current time of the present and the companion of the day is the difference between the emergency of the era of the day, but both the basis of the village will be able to get the same psychologist, as the base of the village will be found, it will definitely be a difference in the mosques of the present, and the basis of the present is a great deal of death, which is a matter of age, which is the matter of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It is not right to decide by comparing a spinal painting of a ninety-nine or a purely palette, because it is usually tight in the pistol’s pistol and is made by body structure. Allah Almighty made us wearable clothes according to the holy saints of Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
